Tsam is a major religious festival ritual performed to spread Buddhism, appease the danger deity of nature, and remove and cleanse the misfortunes and evil spirits among the masses. In addition, Tsam is a type of religious dance assembly depicting fierce deities. The Tsam masks are the figures imagined by the Burkhan disciples in their dreams and meditation. Tsam is supposed to drive away all bad things with its peripheral appearance, jumping and dancing movement; and make people happy and contended by its inner happiness and joy.
